It's been a LONG night, and I missed my metting...

Thursdays are usually a pretty fun night for me: since I was about 8 months pregnant with Alli my Aunt Sherri and cousin Elyce have been coming over every Thursday for dinner and dessert. It started as a way to keep me company while Jason was at school until late in the evening and then quickly became a tradition when we discovered what a great opportunity it was for us to do our favorite things... cook and hang out! We have become each others' "guinea pigs" when it comes to new recipes that we'd like to try-out. Hey, it's a dirty job but someones gotta do it! It's also been a great way for them to have time to visit Alli, and a nice break for me because she has been such a colic baby. My sister, Erin, moved in with my Aunt Sherri and now attends our "Thursdays" regularly. At some point we decided to shift the meeting place over to my Aunt's house, and it's a way for me to get out for a couple of hours and a great chance for Jason to have some quiet to really put a dent in his homework.

Tonight, however, has been nothing of a relief... in fact, it has been rather stressful. I don't know what excuse to make for her this time, but Alli has screamed the entire night. It is bringing back memories of when she was first born, up until she was about 4 months old, and would scream inconsolably for hours. My Aunt has been very helpful and has tried everything to help calm her down as much as she could. As crazy as this sounds, I hope she's teething. At least then I'll know that all of this screaming yielded something, even if it is just a tooth...

It just so happens that the support group I go to (a twelve-step program for addictive behaviors) meets on Thursdays, too. It works out perfectly because after we eat I am able to leave Alli with my Aunt while I go. Needless to say, due to Alli's behavior (or, should I say MISbehavior) I didn't get to go tonight. I really enjoy my meetings and truly believe that everyone should go through a twelve-step at some point. Some people think that crazy, weird, hopeless people are the only ones who do programs like these, but you'd be suprised; you'd really be suprised. You might even see someone like me in one...

I am so glad you get to do that every Thursday! I want to come, too! I'm starting a cooking group at church and hope I don't kill anybody with my cooking. . .maybe you guys would have some advice besides K.I.S.S. (which was mine to myself). I'm so very sorry about the screaming child. At least you CAN say it wasn't your cooking. :)I can honestly say it doesn't last forever, though it does seem like it at the time! Cute pic!!!!!
